Music Director Position Open

Job Description:

To minister, play, and plan sacred music to accompany parish liturgies that encourages full participation from the congregation. Develop and implement liturgical formation and musical training for music ministers, cantors, and choirs. Plan, rehearse, and schedule music for Masses and special liturgies in accordance with the liturgical requirements of the Catholic Church. Have a passion for music and the desire for others to be lifted up in prayer through music.

Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week. Summer months approximately 13-15 hours per week. Accompany all weekend Masses (Saturday 5:00 pm, Sunday 9:30 am with 1/2 hour rehearsal prior to Mass) and Holy Day Masses, schedule and run choir rehearsals, and office hours as needed. Includes extended hours needed during liturgical seasons.

Bachelor’s degree in music or related field, masters preferred.

Demonstrated music skills.

3+ years of music experience in a Catholic Church.

Demonstrated competency in choral conducting and a thorough knowledge of vocal singing.

Demonstrated knowledge of the role of music in Catholic liturgy.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Roman Missal.

Work effectively and collaborate well with others.

Familiarity with a broad range of church music styles.

Be self-directed and work without supervision.

Take direction from supervisor.

Proficient with musical instruments, including the organ and piano, or working towards proficiency.
