Dementia Care Givers Support Group: The best thing you can do for the person you are caring for is stay physically and emotionally strong. A support group offers comfort and reassurance and can be a good source of practical advice and even humor. Through scripture, prayer, and small group discussion, caregivers may feel less alone and receive mutual support from other caregivers. This group meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at Presentation from 9-10:30am, beginning May 2.

Eucharistic Revival: As we continue this year of the National Eucharistic Revival, we would like to invite you to grow closer to Jesus alongside fellow parishioners through the Jesus and the Eucharist study. Each of the 7 sessions is full of rich theological content, powerful testimonies, and unique and timely messages from individual bishops across the country. This is a great opportunity to dive more deeply into the richness of our Eucharistic faith. This group meets every other Wednesday at Christine’s home from 9-10:45am, beginning February 21.

Grief & Loss Group: At one time or another, everyone experiences the death of a loved one and goes through a period of bereavement. This universal experience of profound loss describes the period in which someone grieves inwardly and mourns outwardly on their path to healing. Join us as we discuss ways of healing through prayer, support, and Catholic resources which bring us hope and consolation. This group meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at Presentation from 9-10:30am, beginning February 27.

It’s Tee Time with the Holy Trinity! “Fore!” It’s a warning shout used by golfers to alert others of a potentially dangerous situation on the golf course. What would you do if you heard this sound? I would like to extend an invitation to all adults to join a small group where we can learn, equip ourselves with knowledge, and reason, answer questions, and defend our faith against common objections. Let us come together, share our experiences, and pray for one another. Our goal is to be prepared to share and defend the Church that our Lord Jesus started. This group meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at Presentation from 7-8:30pm, beginning February 21.

Lectio Divina: We will be using the Magnificat “Lectio Divina of the Gospels” with reading, meditation, prayer, and contemplation, focused on the Gospel for each Sunday and major feast day. See you there! This group meets the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at Presentation from 11am-12:30pm, beginning February 23.

Living the Gospel: Using Formed and other podcasts including teachings by Jeff Cavins, Bishop Robert Barron, and others, we will explore and discuss the living Word of God as revealed in the daily Gospel readings and how to apply it in our everyday lives. This group meets every Tuesday at Presentation from 6:30-8pm, beginning February 20.

Opening Your Heart Women’s Bible Study: Walking with Purpose is a Catholic Bible study for women that aims to bring women to a deeper personal relationship with Christ. Opening Your Heart: The Starting Point is the first and foundational study of the program that explores the core questions that we need to wrestle with if we want to experience all that God has for us. This 22-week study will be broken up into two sessions. 10 weeks through mid-May, 12 weeks beginning September 4th. This group meets every Wednesday at Anne’s home from 10-11:30am, beginning March 13.

Presentation Pilgrimage: Rain, snow or shine, we’ll Meet at Presentation Church and walk 45 minutes around the neighborhood. Or decide as a group to meet somewhere to walk. Then, we’ll return to the Divine Mercy Adoration Chapel, ready to read and discuss from start to finish Archbishop Bernard Hebda’s pastoral letter: “You Will Be My Witnesses: Gathered and Sent from the Upper Room.” All ages are welcome! This group meets the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at Presentation from 7-9:30am, beginning March 16.

Together We Share God’s Love: Prayerful reflection and discussion on the Word of God using: The Word Among Us, Daily Mass Readings, Jeff Cavin’s “Praise God and Thank Him”, The Catholic Catechism, and “Everyday Meditations” by Cardinal John Henry Newman. This group meets the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month

Archbishop Hebda invites each of us personally to join a small group and answers the question: why small groups?

Big Questions

What is this new initiative by Archbishop Hebda?

Presentation of Mary’s Synod Evangelization Team (SET) has been busy preparing for the next phase of the Synod Small Group Leadership Sessions which are being offered at our parish in October. To do our part, Archbishop Hebda is inviting us to join with parishes all over our Archdiocese in offering this training which will enable us to launch small group initiatives in Lent 2024.

What defines a small group?

Small groups develop through shared relationships — perhaps through existing common activities or ministries. People gather to spend time regularly getting to knw each other better while sharing their faith and their love for the Lord and in their lives. It not only spreads the Good News to others in your small group, but also deepens your own faith.

Who do I contact with questions? Who are our SET Team members?

With any questions, feel free to contact any of our Synod Evangelization Team members: Anne Carlson, Chris Jacobson, Sue Lovegreen, Fr. Ly, Jim Miettunen, Kay Mottaz, Marge Powers, Deacon Mike Powers, Erwin Radoc, Jim Wahlstrand, and Michelle Wahlstrand.

To contact Kay, call (651)842-6022 or email [email protected].
